Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak is not involved in the Altantuya murder case, claimed former political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda today.Speaking to the media for the first time since his acquittal from the case on Oct 31, Abdul Razak said that neither Najib nor his wife, Rosmah Mansor, had met Altantuya.”I know that Najib and his wife had never met the deceased, Altantuya. So much ‘fitnah’ (lies) have been thrown towards the DPM and his wife.”Those who have spread such lies can never produce any authentic evidence because there are none.”

He also said that Altantuya was never involved in any arms deal as was mentioned by various quarters for the reason of her killing.

The former Najib aide said that the arms deal took place in 2002, and he met Altantuya two years after that.

He added that he could do nothing about the public perception on the matter, urging everyone to stop linking Najib and Rosmah to the murder.

Abdul Razak also said that Najib would make a good prime minister.

This is a joke, right? No? Yea right!

Did we expect him to come out and call for a press conference and shout to the world ”Yes. Najib is involved in the Altantuya murder!” “Najib and Rosmah are buddy buddy with Altantuya!” No! So why need to speak out for Najib and Rosmah? Why this PR work?

One point though. How did he know that the Deputy Prime Minister is not involved in the Altantuya murder case? I find this statement strange.  How can someone who had just been acquitted from the murder case, claimed that Najib was not involved in it? What gives him the right to ask everyone to stop linking Najib and Rosmah to the murder? Does he know something that we don’t?  Or else how can he speak out for them that they are innocent. If someone was accused to have robbed a bank and I said “No, he was not involved.” Does it mean that my word can stand assure that he did not rob the bank? How did I know he didn’t?

When Wee Meng Chee, aka Namewee, did a rap on Negaraku, he was investigated under the Sedition Act. Now the case is refered to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for review and see what action should be taken (here).Even the cabinet rejected an apology from the rapper, citing that they were not in the position to forgive him and that “the law would have to take its course”.“The offence was not against the Prime Minister or ministers concerned but against the nation,” said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.

“To not prosecute him is not ‘on’ at all because he has committed an offence against the nation and no one, not the Cabinet or political parties, are in the position to forgive him,” he said.

Wee could be charged under the Sedition Act because he had insulted the symbol of the nation, he said (here)

Now when the the police moved in on participants at a candlelight vigil at Petaling Jaya while they were singing the national anthem, the Negaraku - what do you call that? Did the police show any respect for the national anthem? Can’t they just wait until the participants finished singing the national anthem as a respect for our nation before they moved in and asked  then to disperse?

This is a grave offence on the part of the police. They are the ones who should have more respect than others for the symbol of our nation. Yet they just moved in and disrupted the citizen of Malaysia from singing our national anthem. Is this forgivable? Will the police be investigated under the Sedition act? We sure like to hear from Nazri and Syed Hamid Albar. No double-standard please!

Err! By the way, despite video evidence, Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar has denied that the police moved in on participants at a candlelight vigil last night while they were singing the national anthem. Even with evidence, and mind you not just one video but several, he can still denied it! Where is the integrity and honor of the police force? Shame! Shame! And more Shame!

Watch this video and tell me who is lying? The police or the participants?

I’m sure we are all very happy and encouraged now that RPK is freed! But do we stop here. No, heaven forbids! We are to continue to call on the government to release every ISA detainees and give them a fair trial and abolish the ISA. We are not done yet!

God heard the prayers of the righteous. The truth shall always previal! You can’t work in the dark, God will expose it in the light.

Now that RPK is free, let’s continue to keep the candles burning and expect the release of the Hindraf Five and all ISA detainess. And most of all. the Abolishment of ISA!

Now we like to hear what the Home Minister got to say. He goes beyond his power. I wonder is it possible to sue the Home Minister for making an illegal detention?

Syed Ahmad Helmy said there was no relevance for the minister to issue the order against Raja Petra on the basis of mala fide.“Following this, the court finds there is a procedural non-compliance as stated under Section 8(1) of the ISA based on the minister’s affidavit.

“Hence the court finds the minister had acted ultra vires (beyond his powers) in issuing the detention order under the ISA section. For example, the minister cannot issue an order if a person has in bad faith decided to colour his hair red.

“Following this, the court is allowing the plaintiff’s application and order for his release,” the judge said.

Raja Petra’s lawyer Malik had said during submissions earlier that the court has jurisdiction to scrutinise the detention order, to determine if it was made in bad faith.

“This is not a situation like Jemaah Islamiyah or communists. This is just a man whom the government thinks can bring it down to its knees,” the counsel had argued.

Will this ever happened in Malaysia? Nah!

Peter Ooi: Is it for real that a black man has been elected as the president of the USA? Unbelievable but it is true!

It can only be true for a nation which would settle for nothing but the best.

Yes, Obama is the best even though he is black. And the Americans have chosen the best regardless of colour.

It is this attribute that makes the US the greatest nation on earth. It through their exploitation of all available brains and talents of all races that has propelled them to be the first in all fields whether it is the race to the moon or winning the most number of Nobel prizes.

How I wish such a policy is practised at home. And how I dream that our government can exploit the brains and talents of every race so that we could be among the best in the world.

The biggest dream is for Malaysians to emulate the Americans in electing a prime minister regardless of race but I think I am dreaming too much.

Even appointing a non-Malay to a small position to head PKNS had seen so much protest.

But I would still dream on, though a distant one!

A community which was regarded as slaves have rose up to lead the most powerful nation in this world. A fantastic transformation!

Very unlikely. Appointing a Chinese or an Indian to an acting GM’s post in PKNS is already creating chaos, what more an Indian PM for Malaysia. It is really next to impossible.

Abdullah Badawi: On the historic victory obtained by Barack Obama as the new American president today, Abdullah said that the reality of leaders being chosen regardless of race can happen anywhere.

“What happened in America today was not decided by Washington or any one group but by the American people themselves through the democratic process and elections that have existed for so long in America,” he said

Yea sure. Just walk the talk and stop the gibberish talk. So let us the Malaysian people decide who should be the Prime Minister, instead of passing on the baton!

Last night I had my dinner at the famous nasi kandar stall along Jalan Kapitan Keling (formerly Pitt Street). The stall is just next to the mosque. This place is well known to nasi kandar lovers all over Malaysia. Actually there are two stalls there. One starts from lunch till about 11pm. And the other will take over from then till early in the morning. It is said the one that starts at 11pm is better. But honestly, to me they are both the same as long as you get there when the food is just cooked, fresh and hot.

Anyway, this is not about nasi kandar. It is about what I witnessed there. We talked about racial harmony, Bangsa Malaysia, tolerance, living with one another regardless of race or religions. All these are just mere terminology if we never put into practice.

While having my nasi kandar, a Malay family of 5 came and sat next to my table. The wife and children were seated while the father went to queue up to place the order. Then I saw him waved to the waiter to come over. He then told the waiter to ask an old Chinese man sitting near the queue if he wanted a drink. The Chinese man said that’s ok, but the Malay guy insisted and told the waiter to get him a teh tarik. And if that’s not enough he asked the Chinese man if he would like some chicken but the Chinese man again said it’s ok.

I turned around and I saw that the Chinese man was having just curry on the rice and some fried cabbage and a glass of plain water, probably tap water.

My point here is that, the Malay man did not see the color of the skin of the Chinese man. He saw a poor old man who could use some proper food. He sees through the skin into the pain and sadness. And probably hunger. He sees another human being in needs.

After I paid my bill and walked away, I felt so bad that I’ve not noticed the Chinese old man. But I guess I was not the only one; there were like 30 to 40 other customers who did not notice the old man too. Anyway, that’s no excuse. The question is, would I have done the same?

When I reached my car, an old rugged Malay “jaga kereta” man came over and directed me to reverse my car. I always see that Malay man there but I’ve not “seen” him. Like the Old Book says, “Having eyes, see ye not? And having ears, hear ye not?” Sometimes we can be blind even we have good eyesight. And our ears are often deaf to the cry of those who are in needs around us.

When I looked into man’s eyes, I saw pain, sadness and hunger.. I then took out my wallet and gladly gave him a few ringgit and asked him to go and have a good meal. Thanks to the anonymous Malay man, and many other unsung good Samaritans out there. These are the people who don’t just preach, they walk the talk about racial harmony, Bangsa Malaysia, tolerance, living with one another regardless of race or religions.

Maybe there is a lesson we can all learn from Nasi Kandar. Whether we are Malays, Chinese or Indians we love our nasi kandar. We sit next to each other, we eat the same food, some like it a bit spicy and some not too spicy but it’s still nasi kandar and we love it.  There is no race issue at the nasi kandar stall, only rice.
