I Want You…, RPK

Posted in LIFE, PICTURE TALK, AROUND THE BLOG, MALAYSIA, NEWS, THE BRAVE ONE - Hall of Fame, ABOLISH ISA CAMPAIGN on November 9th, 2008

Raja Petra Kamarudin - I want you…

I’m sure we are all very happy and encouraged now that RPK is freed! But do we stop here. No, heaven forbids! We are to continue to call on the government to release every ISA detainees and give them a fair trial and abolish the ISA. We are not done yet!

THE ISA IS STILL A HEINOUS WEAPON USED BY THE GOVERNMENT!
WE WILL CONTINUE AND SPREAD IT THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY
UNTIL THE GOVERNMENT, OR A NEW GOVERNMENT
ABOLISH THE ISA.

WE WANT CHANGE.
THOSE WHO DO NOT WANT CHANGE
SHOULD GET OUT OF THE WAY
OF THOSE
WHO WANT CHANGE.

Raja Petra said: “Not many people have challenged the act (ISA) so much and I did not have much high hopes (of being released).

“This application allowed under Section 8 is a special prize. I am tired.”

“This showed ISA cannot be used. I hope this is not a political decision. I don’t want to be the prime minister. I want Anwar to be the PM,” he said.

“We have to fight all-out and get the ISA abolished,” he told reporters.

RPK Free: Court Orders Raja Petra’s Release

Latest News: RPK free!

RPK Free - He’s back again

God heard the prayers of the righteous. The truth shall always previal! You can’t work in the dark, God will expose it in the light.

Now that RPK is free, let’s continue to keep the candles burning and expect the release of the Hindraf Five and all ISA detainess. And most of all. the Abolishment of ISA!

Now we like to hear what the Home Minister got to say. He goes beyond his power. I wonder is it possible to sue the Home Minister for making an illegal detention?

Syed Ahmad Helmy said there was no relevance for the minister to issue the order against Raja Petra on the basis of mala fide.“Following this, the court finds there is a procedural non-compliance as stated under Section 8(1) of the ISA based on the minister’s affidavit.

“Hence the court finds the minister had acted ultra vires (beyond his powers) in issuing the detention order under the ISA section. For example, the minister cannot issue an order if a person has in bad faith decided to colour his hair red.

“Following this, the court is allowing the plaintiff’s application and order for his release,” the judge said.

Raja Petra’s lawyer Malik had said during submissions earlier that the court has jurisdiction to scrutinise the detention order, to determine if it was made in bad faith.

“This is not a situation like Jemaah Islamiyah or communists. This is just a man whom the government thinks can bring it down to its knees,” the counsel had argued.

Zaid Ibrahim - The Brave One

Zaid Ibrahim - The Brave One

Zaid sticks to ‘quit’ decision, open to joining PKR

Barely six months after being appointed as a minister, a disappointed Zaid Ibrahim has reached the point of no return. Even the prime minister has failed to dissuade him from reconsidering his decision to resign.

And the straw which broke the camel’s back was last Friday’s Internal Security Act arrest of three individuals, which Zaid, the de facto law minister, had condemned.

At a press conference in his office at the Prime Minister’s Department attended by scores of journalists this morning, the outgoing minister said he will not reconsider his decision to quit and conceded that he has failed in his task to convince the government to initiate legal reforms.

“I am not tired. I am just disappointed. My decision to quit remains. I will resign,” he said in a tone which barely hid his disenchantment.

“I think I have failed to convince those in authority to effect changes on how the government should move forward,” added the 58-year-old politician who left a successful legal practice to serve in the Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s government.

Truth Detained Under ISA

Truth in cuctody under ISA

On The Wings Of A Prayer

Just close your eyes and open your heart, And feel your worries and cares depart. Just yield yourself to the Father above, And let Him hold you secure in His love.

For life on earth grows more involved, With endless problems that can’t be solved. But God only ask us to do our best, Then He will take over and finish the rest.

So when you are tired, discouraged and blue, There is always one door that is open to you. And that is the door to The House of Prayer, And you’ll find God waiting to meet you there.

And The House of Prayer is no further away, Than the quiet spot where you kneel and pray. For the heart is a temple when God is there, As we place ourselves in His loving care.

And He hears every prayer and answers each one, When we Pray in His name - Thy will be done. The burdens that seemed too heavy to bear, Are lifted away on the wings of a prayer.

Way To Go, Anwar

Dr Wan Azizah - The Brave One

Posted in LIFE, PICTURE TALK, AROUND THE BLOG, MALAYSIA, CITIZEN'S COLUMN, NEWS, THE BRAVE ONE - Hall of Fame on August 5th, 2008

Dr Wan Azizah -The Brave One

Wan Azizah has been the most responsible wife, mother and opposition leader. She has held the torch for all. She has suffered a lot while her husband was incarcerated.

She has been an exemplary mother who brought up her family while her husband languished in jail. She has kept the stunted democracy alive, preventing the dictator from eliminating it entirely.

She has been the most responsible and has done a great job for the country. It is a lie for any husband to say ‘My wife would do the same’ as Wan Azizah.

We are proud that while Philippines has Corazon Aquino, we have Wan Azizah.

LUK

It is indeed touching, and also and indication of sheer responsibility, for Wan Azizah to give up her seat for her husband and the future prime minister. It show her sacrifice of dedication of so many years for her beloved country.

I’m sure she has suffered a lot over the years with her husband in prison. The anguish she must have felt cannot be imagined by any one of us. She has upheld the party supporters and the party and this is no easy feat.

It has been many years, but the loyalty she and her husband had for the rakyat has never flinched. This is to let her know that we are truly grateful to a wonderful lady who has selflessly dedicated her life to champion the rights of the people.

I’m sure she will not leave the political scene until she is sure she can spend some quality time with her hubby, or maybe just take a stroll in the park with Malaysia being a peaceful and prosperous nation.

Let the world see how people can make a change and destroy cronyism, nepotism, and corruption.

JOHN JOHNSON

Wan Azizah is indeed a unique role model that the modern Malaysian woman ought to emulate. She is intelligent, steadfast, and humble, ‘aggressive ‘ in her own way, as well as a dutiful wife and mother.

She encompasses attributes that make her stand out shining from the rest of the ladies who fought for one cause but lost their balance on the other end.

She, on the other hand, embraces all the characters praiseworthy of true ‘modern Islamic lady’ identity.

Dr Tan Yee Kew - The Brave One

Dr Tan Yee Kew - The Brave One

She understands her priorities and the situation. She made a choice and set the pace for others. She crossed over to PKR with 1.700 others with more to follow. She is The Brave One.

Former MCA Wanita deputy chief and Ministry of International Trade and Industry parliamentary secretary Dr Tan Yee Kew today crossed over with 1,700 others to PKR in Klang - the constituency which she once represented for 13 years.

To rousing applause from a crowd of about 1,500 people who packed the convention hall of the Klang Executive Club, Tan said that despite the reverses suffered by the BN in the recent elections, “they are oblivious of the people’s discontent” and consumed “by power struggles” within component parties.

“The BN just doesn’t get it,” she said. “The March 8 election was a warning to them to act quickly and take steps to tackle issues like rising costs and crime, restoring the judiciary, and bringing equitable development for all,” she added.

“But the BN has not only lost its sense of priorities, it has also lost its direction,” said Tan, holder of a doctorate in development studies from Universiti Malaya and the member of parliament for Klang for three terms from 1995.
