The Letter
Posted in AROUND THE BLOG, CITIZEN'S COLUMN, LIFE, MALAYSIA, MUSIC, NEWS, SMILE, VIDEO on August 20th, 2009This was one of my favourite song in my “hippy” days. Used to sing this song with my band and even won a talentine show singing this song. But today there is s new twist to the song. Yes, 2009 version of The Letter.
2009 Version of THE LETTER
Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane,
Ain’t got time to take a fast train.
Happy days are gone, I’m leaving home,
‘Cause somebody just a-wrote in a letter.
I don’t care how much money I gotta spend,
Got to get out of this country
Happy days are gone, I’m leaving home,
‘Cause somebody just a-wrote in a letter.
* Well, he wrote in the letter
Said he knew of corruption and conspiracy
Finger prints are wiped, DNA exchanged
To close proximity, habislah!
Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane,
Ain’t got time to take a fast train.
Happy days are gone, I’m leaving home,
‘Cause somebody just a-wrote in a letter.
A Song I Wrote…, 5 Years ago!
Posted in CITIZEN'S COLUMN, LARYNGECTOMY, LIFE, MUSIC, PICTURE TALK, SMILE, VIDEO on August 5th, 2009It took me 5 long years and now I finally done it - upload this song that I have written on You Tube and share it to the world.
I have written about 15 songs and this is one of them which I have done as a home recording project. I wanted to do a album but then, in 2005 I was diagnosed with throat cancer. To be precise it’s cancer of the larynx (voice box). In 2007, I had a surgery to remove my larynx and since then I am unable to talk again let alone to sing.
This song was recorded at home on a ZOOM Mini Recording Studio (MRS) which I bought for about RM1300. Everything you see and hear on this video is done by me, from writing the song, singing, doing the music, mixing, video editing, etc, except for the help of a good friend, Su Mei who did the harmony. The song was recorded at the time when I was going through a 32 courses of radiation (radiotherapy). I still was able to do a bit of singing then, so I quickly recorded this song and few others, knowing that soon I will have to lose my voice completely for good.
And just a month ago I picked up some basic video editing. Took out some of my old video clips and started editing to produce this video.
Now you know why it took me 5 long years to do this video.
If you have been a regular visitor to my blog, I guess you may not know that I do sing, at one point of my life. Even while writing this article, a tiny teardrop rolled down my cheek. Yes, I once could talk, shout and sing but now I can only listen to my own voice.
If you enjoy this song, and do wish to use it in anyway, please do contact me. Thanks.

The Manek Urai (MU) Song
Posted in AROUND THE BLOG, CITIZEN'S COLUMN, LIFE, MALAYSIA, MUSIC, PICTURE TALK, SMILE, VIDEO on July 4th, 2009I’m a fan of Manchester United. And I’m also a fan of freedom, justice and truth.
Here is a the famous Man United song which I’ve re-written for Man Urai (Manek Urai) - as the Greens go marching up, up up!
So sing along even if you are not a Man United fan, but you can be a fan of Change! Of a New Malaysia!
-
The Manek Urai Song
Glory glory Man Urai,
Glory glory Man Urai,
Glory glory Man Urai,
As the Greens go marching up, up, up!
Just like the 12th GE and days gone by,
We’ll keep the Green flags flying high,
You’re gonna see us all from far and wide,
You’re gonna hear the rakyat sing with pride.
Urai, Man Urai,
We’re the boys in Green and we’re on our way to Whack the Blues!
Whack the Blues, Whack the Blues
We’re the fav’rite in Man Urai we’re going to Whack the Blues,
Whack the Blues, Whack the Blues
We’re the fav’rite in Man Urai and we’re going to Whack the Blues
In two thousand eight in the PR team,
Back in seventh April of zero nine,
And everyone will know just who we are,
They’ll be singing que sera sera
Urai, Man Urai
We’re the boys in Green and we’re on our way to Whack the Blues!
Whack the Blues, Whack the Blues,
We’re the fav’rite in Man Urai and we’re going to Whack the Blues,
Whack the Blues, Whack the Blues,
We’re the fav’rite in Man Urai and we’re going to Whack the Blues
Glory glory Man Urai,
Glory glory Man Urai,
Glory glory Man Urai,
As the Greens go marching up, up, up!
(Repeat 3times)
A Tribute To Michael “Jacko” Jackson
Posted in AROUND THE BLOG, LIFE, MUSIC, NEWS, PICTURE TALK on June 27th, 2009
Jacko finally finds the peace that we didn’t give him in his last days as King of Pop. Despite several rumours of skin cancer and other illnesses, he veered his fans off his health concerns and promised them one last comeback concert. But it wasn’t to be.
The moonwalker was found dead at his Los Angeles home at 12:30 pm yesterday by paramedics.
Today, we remember the man who became an icon during the 80’s with his innumerable hits that transcended racial identity and geography. But as is his human nature, we threw him off his throne when he wasn’t delivering #1 singles anymore.
Yet, his star power never waned. Though it wasn’t fed by anything positive, scandals kept him in the spotlight. Now that he’s gone, we only feel the presence of his legacy strongly and not the headlines that hounded him.
RIP Michael Jackson.
Black Is Black, I Want My Coffee Black!
Posted in ABOLISH ISA CAMPAIGN, AROUND THE BLOG, CITIZEN'S COLUMN, LIFE, MALAYSIA, MUSIC, PICTURE TALK, VIDEO on June 15th, 2009Lately everybody is talking about wearing Black and Kopi-O session. Why not a song of the Sixties to go with it.
My adaption of “Black Is Black”
Black is black
I want my coffee black
It’s gray, it’s gray
Freedom’s fading away, Ooh-Ooh
What can I do
‘Drink more O’ O’ O’ O’… Kopi –O brew
If I had my way
Abolish ISA today
But Jib don’t intend
To give it away Ooh-Ooh
What can I do
‘Drink more, O’ O’ O’ O’… Kopi-O brew
We can choose
Democracy or lose
Our rights for a song
Wow! Maybe if we
Vote back Reformasi
Then we’ll be strong
Bad is bad
I know you feel so sad
It’s time, it’s time
That we found peace of mind, Ooh-Ooh
What can we do
‘Drink more, O’ O’ O’ O’… Kopi-O brew
We can choose
Democracy or lose
Our rights for a song
Wow! Maybe if we
Vote back Reformasi
Then we’ll be strong
Black is black
I want my coffee black
It’s gray, it’s gray
Freedom’s fading away, Ooh-Ooh
What can I do
‘Drink more O’ O’ O’ O’ … kopi –O brew
‘Drink more O’ O’ O’ O’… kopi –O brew
