Why Does The Government Need His Approval?

Now why does the government need to get approval from an ex-PM on their decision to scrap the policy of teaching Science and Mathematics in English? Who’s decision is it? What role is he holding in the govt that they need his blesssing? Or need to inform him? And the need to spent 3 hours explaining to him. Are they afraid of the wrath of the Tun?

Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said that former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad has accepted the government’s decision to scrap his policy of teaching Science and Mathematics in English.

Muhyiddin, who is also the education minister, said he had consulted the former premier before making the crucial decision to revert to the Malay language to teach the two subjects effective 2012.

He added that he had provided Mahathir with the details of problems encountered in the six-year period when the two subjects were taught in English.

“In the three-hour discussion, my officials and I told him that we were facing problems in implementing his policy… and he accepted our views,” he told a press conference in Putrajaya.

  1. coz they can blame the old man if things go wrong! old man has nothing to lose as he\’d be dead by the time malaysia realise its mistake.

  2. Hi Shoot2kill.
You could be right but also I think it’s becos they are afraid of his claws! They have seen what he did to Abdullah Badawi, when he cancelled the Crooked Bridge. they have learned the lesson. So now they pay their respect to him first and hope for his blessing.

But according to Tun’s blog, he was not happy with the govt decision to scrap the policy! So beware!

  3. The government does not need his approval but in many ways Najib does, lest the ex-PM exposes his skeletons. Dr M met up with Raja Petra Kamaruddin(RPK) and has the key to Najib\’s closet, remember?

  4. Jong
Looks like Tun is still running the country.

  5. Yep, the return of Mahathirism!! Think Najib has a choice, huh?
