2nd Anniversary As A Laryngectomee

 2nd year as a laryngectomee

Exactly two years ago today I had my laryngectomy surgery. Today is the 2nd anniversary of that 10-hour surgery to remove my larynx , also know as the voice box.

I was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer, commonly called cancer of the throat, at the end of 2005. I went through a 33 courses of radiotheraphy (radiation),  but the treatment didn’t work. In fact it seem to grow the cancer more aggressively 6 months dow the road. I was given another diagnosis and it was confirmed that the cancer has reached stage 4, which is fatal.

I have made significant progress since that faithful day. I have learned to adapt to this “new” lifestyle.  Each day when I wake up, I thank the Lord for yet another day.  There is a reason why the Lord kept me alive here on earth. This is something that I have yet to discover. And looking forward for more fruitful years ahead!

Even though I can’t speak now, God gave me a channel to speak to the whole through this simple blog.  I started blogging a couple of weeks  after the surgery.  And I started to learn to do the stuff I’m doing in my blog (eg. photoshop). Prior to that, I know next to nothing about blogging or “photoshopping.”

“Give thanks to the LORD because He is good, His mercy endures forever!” -  Psalm 107:1

  4. Psalms 91
    9 If you make the Most High your dwelling—
    even the LORD, who is my refuge-

    10 then no harm will befall you,
    no disaster will come near your tent.

    11 For he will command his angels concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways;

    12 they will lift you up in their hands,
    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

    13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
    you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

  6. 14 “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him;
    I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

    15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
    I will be with him in trouble,
    I will deliver him and honor him.

    16 With long life will I satisfy him
