Lingamgate - “No Further Action!”

 Lingam case no further action

Status of the VK Lingam video

In a written answer to the question by Wee Choo Keong (PKR-Wangsa Maju) on the action taken by the Attorney-General’s Chambers on the VK Lingam video on judicial fixing, the prime minister said that four investigation papers were initiated by the Anti-Corruption Agency (now known as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission).

Three of the investigation documents were sent to the AG’s Chambers for further action whilst one of it was marked as ‘no further action’ by the director of legal and prosecution affairs.

This was because it was found that there was not enough evidence to back up the accusation under the Anti-Corruption Act 1997 (before it was abolished), said the prime minister.

According to the written answer, out of three documents that were sent to the AG’s Chambers, two were labelled as ‘no further action’ as there were no concrete evidence, but one was now under the purview of the AG for further investigation.

“No further action!” And are we surprised? Definitely not.  It is so predictable. Who would really expect the MACC or AG to take any action against those big guns?

And They Are Promoting ISA!

Why didn’t they invite RPK as one of the speakers? Or Malik Imtiaz? Or Haris Ibrahim?  Or someone from Suaram or Aliran or the Bar Council? And who is the NGO who organised the talk? Another pro-government or Umnos’s NGO?

KUANTAN (The Star Online) : The Internal Security Act (ISA) is still relevant to curb threats to the country’s security and economy but it is not meant to oppress anyone, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said.

He said it was an effective preventive instrument, and was still needed to ensure that peace and stability prevailed in the country.

“As such, it should not be abolished. If it is revoked, it means that the country will be a step behind when there are so many other countries that are, in fact, reinforcing their preventive detention laws to curb terrorism,” Ismail said at a talk titled “ISA: Is it an oppression?”

It is definitely an oppression! Is ISA crubing terrorism or those who opposed the government? Are the Hindraf Five terrorists? Or RPK? Or Teresa Kok? And why is ISA relevant? Because it makes your job easier. Just lock them up. Guilty till proven innocent! We are definitely “a step behind!”

The talk was jointly organised by a non-governmental organisation and the Home Ministry here on Saturday night. Ismail was one of the three speakers.

The other two were ex-ISA detainees Zabidi Mohamed, 47, a former legal adviser of the banned deviant group Al-Arqam, and Faiz Abu Bakar Bafana, also 47, a former treasurer of the Jemaah Islamiah. Read the rest of this entry »

The BN By-Election for Dummies

Najib Can’t Handle Another Defeat

PUTRAJAYA: New Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Zambry Abdul Kadir will be heading the BN machinery in the Bukit Gantang parliamentary by-election.

State Barisan Nasional deputy head Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the party leadership had decided that Zambry would take the helm in the polls on April 7.

“The state BN chief Datuk Seri Najib Razak and I will be leaving it entirely to Zambry, and the both of us will just take on advisory roles.

“We do not want a situation of having two captains on a ship,” said Ahmad Zahid, who is also minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of Islamic affairs.

Why is Najib not leading the BN machinery for Bukit Gantang parliamentary by-election? Or should I re-phrase it. Why Najib dare not lead the BN machinery for the Bukit Gantang parliamentary by-election?

After the disatrous defeats in Permatang Pauh and Kuala Terengganu, and the frogs jumping ship take-over of Perak, he could not afford another “no face” defeat. That’s why!

He knows very well Pakatan Rakyat will definitely take Bukit Gantang. So why go in there and make himself ‘malu’ again. Defeat is inevitable. And as usual let the scape goat takes the blame, and he is an expert in that.  In this case, the scape goat is the questionable so-called new MB of Perak.  How can a PM (only if Abdullah steps down) takes the blame?

To simply put it, he can’t handle the truth!

Eli Wong - Who Would Throw the First Stone?

Posted in AROUND THE BLOG, CITIZEN'S COLUMN, LIFE, MALAYSIA, NEWS, PICTURE TALK, THE WORD OF TRUTH on February 19th, 2009

Eli Wong - Who would throw the first stone?

Did she do anything wrong? Is there a moral issue here? Who is the real culprit?

Maybe these are but just a few questions we should all answer before we throw the first stone. Or is there any of us who is blameless to dare to cast the first stone!

There have been many comments and opinions on the issue about the so called nude photos of Elizabeth Wong or Eli Wong.

So really did she do anything wrong? Did she? And as Eli Wong herself declared, she has done nothing wrong. Was she right?

There has been a lot of talk about what she wears to bed or rather what she did not wear to bed. Is wearing a sarong to bed wrong? Or one sleeping naked in the privacy of her own bedroom wrong or “immoral?”

What do you wear to sleep? What you wear to sleep is a matter of choice. Whatever you feel comfortable in bed is not a “moral issue.” Even if you sleep naked in the privacy of your own bedroom doesn’t make one immoral. As long as one does not expose oneself to public, it is an individual choice. The problem here is that, photos of her sleeping in a sarong or partially nude are being made public and that makes her immoral. Read the rest of this entry »

Mr Pot @ UPR

Posted in LIFE, MALAYSIA, PICTURE TALK, TRAVELLING on February 17th, 2009

Mr Pot@UPR

There are few places I love to hang-out to have a good coffee and get lost in cyberspace. One of these places is Mr Pot@Gurney. This is a place where you can just chill-out and enjoy the cool breeze coming in from the sea along Gurney Drive.

Mr Pot Penang

Now Mr Pot has branched out to another outlet. It’s Mr Pot@UPR (Upper Penang Road). You can’t miss this place. It is located right in the eye of UPR. As you come towards Penang Road along Farquhar Street, it’s on your right, directly opposite the famous Cheong Tze Fatt Mansion and Continental Hotel.

Bar area

You get a fantastic view of the UPR, especially if you sit on the upper floor, over-looking the Cheong Tze Fatt,  Mansion.  It’s has an open balcony concept. There is a big screen on the ground level with a couple of LCD TV scattered around and on the upper floor there are a couple of LCD TV too. And this a good hang-out to surf the net. I could spend hours here blogging!

Mr Pot Coffee and Toast

If you like to watch the English Premier League and enjoy a couple of cool beer with friends, then this is “the place.” And if you are not a beer drinker like me, no worries. There is a large selection of beverages to choose from. Coffee, tea, chocolate, fruit juices, smoothies, etc, etc. or if you feel like having something to munch, there are bread toast with the spread of your choice, French fries, wedges and lots more. And there are also a variety  of mouth-watering Asian and local cuisine and a wide range of western food as well.

Mr Pot Bar Area cum dining 02

My recommendations:

Try the coffee, either the local or white. It is as good as you can get. And it only cost you RM2.60 and RM3.80!

Mr Pot Silky Barley, a cooling drink is another of my favorite. And the price? RM2.90!

And for something cool and refreshing, Dragon fruit juice RM6.50 or any of the fresh fruit juice.

If you want something to eat either for breakfast, lunch, dinner or supper then try the Nasi lemak with assam fish and prawns, hard boiled egg, peanuts and bilis and sambal, and all for RM6.90

Or if you prefer chicken then go for the Nasi Lemak Rendang chicken (RM8.50)

Or the Assam laksa (RM5.80), Seafood Liguini (RM9.90), Fish and chips (RM10.90)
Big juicy Beef burger (RM8.90) Beef Hor Fun (RM8.00) Fried rice RM6.60

Something lighter? Then go for the mushroom soup with garlic bread for only RM4.80

Ask for the set lunch. The asian set is for RM7.90 and western set is RM9.90! Both come with soup of the day and a drink. Defintely a good deal!

Mr Pot Open area

The service staffs are polite and helpful. The environment is clean and spacious. The food and drink are reasonably price without compromising on the ingredients and quality. A cool place if just want to just hang-out and have a coffee and read the newspaper, or have a lunch or dinner party with friends! And the good news is you can go there anytime of the day as both Mr Pot@Gurney and Mr Pot@UPR are open 24hours!

(For your information, I’m blogging this article here at Mr Pot!)
