Abolish The ISA Song - “Why I.S.A?

Posted in MUSIC, LIFE, PICTURE TALK, MALAYSIA, VIDEO, SUNDAY SPECIAL on September 28th, 2008

This is my version of YMCA by The Village People. I changed the lyrics a bit (hehe!!!) and called it, “Why I.S.A? ” by The Global Village People. Yes, we are the Global Village People. Click on the video, boost up the volume and sing! And dance if you need to! If you have any suggestion to change the lyrics, please do post at the comment.

And on the lighter-side, enjoy the video. I laughed when I see those guys (?), doing their steps. Like the part where the lead singer doing the marching movements and the rest doing the synchronized steps behind him. So corny! Anyway, it;s a fun song so just enjoy (Sorry, this video is no longer available - due to copyright. So I replaced it with this one with just the music. Anyway, all you need is the music to sing along))

Why I.S.A?

Rakyat, there’s no need to feel down.
I said, Rakyat, get yourself off the ground.
I said, Rakyat, ’cause we’re in a New Dawn
There’s a need, for-Re-for-ma-si

Anwar, there’s a place you can go.
Putra-jaya, let the red carpet roll
You can, stay there, and I’m sure you will find
Many ways, to-bring-those-chan-ges

Let’s put an end to this, Vile I.S.A.
We had enough of this, Vile I.S.A
It’s evil and cruel, a Machiavellian tool
They can do, what they feel

Hear the people cry, Why I.S.A?
In this land we loved, Why I.S.A?
You can set people free, Kamunting we don’t need
 So Abolish - The ISA

Rakyat, are you listening to me?
I said, Rakyat, what do you want to be?
I said, Rakyat, you can make real your dreams
But you got, to-know-this-one-thing!

No man, does it all by himself.
I said, Rakyat, don’t put your rights on the shelf
And just stand up, against this draconian law
Let us free, Ma-lay-sia-to-day

Let’s put an end to this, Vile I.S.A.
We had enough of this, Vile I.S.A
It’s evil and cruel, a Machiavellian tool
They can do, what they feel

Hear the people cry, Why I.S.A?
In this land we loved, Why I.S.A?
You can set people free, Kamunting we don’t need
So Abolish - The ISA

Rakyat, I was once in your shoes.
I said, I was, down and out with the Blue.
I felt no man, cared if I were alive.
I felt my whole-world-has-no-rights …

That’s when, someone came up to me,
And said, Yo! man, know and fight for what’s right
And just say no, to the Foul ISA
We don’t need, this-trash-to-feel-safe

Let’s put an end to this, Vile I.S.A.
We had enough of this, Vile I.S.A
It’s evil and cruel, a Machiavellian tool
They can do, what they feel

No I.S.A!
We had enough of it, No I.S.A!
Rakyat, Rakyat, are you listening to me?
Rakyat, Rakyat, let me hear you sing

No I.S.A!
Everybody sing, No I.S.A!
Rakyat, Rakyat, you can set yourself free
Rakyat, Rakyat, that’s how it’s gonna be

Now I Really Feel Insulted!

Egg Insulted

“I don’t answer to him (referring to Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Senator T. Murugiah),” said Syed Hamid, adding that the food served to detainees met international standards.

(Quoted from NST)

*************************

I don’t know what the Home Minister meant when he said, “the food served to detainees met international standards.”

Is he saying that, internationally, all over the world, detainees are fed 3 meals with just RM4.30 (approx. USD1.30). Isn’t that what it implied? Are the detainees in the USA, Britian, Japan, Korea, Singapore, etc…, only allocated USD1.30 per day? I wonder what they eat there for USD1.30 for 3 meals! Only the Home Minister can enlighten us with his once again wacky statement. Is a loaf of ‘local bread,” a cup of tea or coffee, 2 packet of rice and 2 eggs a day considered international standards?

With the high cost of living and food price keeps going up, how can anyone in Malaysia survived with RM4.50 for 3 meals per day. Just for the Home Minister’s sake just in case he has lost touch with reality - a piece of roti canai or a loaf of “local roti” cost between 80 sen to a ringgit. Plain rice cost about 60 sen. One hard-boiled egg is about 60 to 80 sen. I quoted these prices from the Mamak shop. Other places could cost more. So If I want to have a decent meal, one plate of rice, 1 egg, maybe 2 bendi, a little fried cabbage, would cost atleast RM2.50 to RM3.00. And that’s the minimum estimation for just one meal! But I’m pretty sure, a normal decent meal would cost anything from RM4.00 to RM5.00, and that doesn’t include the drink. Even plain water would cost you 20 sen! Ask anyone is RM4.50 sufficient to have a decent meal today here in Malaysia, let alone 3 decent meals! Beats me!

It really fascinates me how the Home Minister dare to openly state that what the food served to detainees met international standards! I hope it’s another joke from him.

Have the Home Minister ever seen what food is been served to the detainees? And if he have, can he honestly say that the food is of “international standards? And do the detainees deserved the type food been served now? And just in case we forget, these people that are remanded are still innocent till proven guilty! And most importantly, they are human. That’s right, human like you and me. The rights to be sheltered, fed and clothed decently!

So please tell us, is RM4.50 per day in accordance to “INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS?”

On another matter, yes, the egg matter. Can you believe it? Police report lodged against Teresa Kok for insulting egg! Don’t this people have better things to do than go around and make police report on “insulting egg?”  Yes, you read it right. EGG! They said she had insulted the police and the poor. Eggs are an important food for low-income earners and the poor. As an elected representative of the people she should not have said that. Insulted the police? What have the police got to do with the egg. Did the police lay the egg or what? What is the connection? And if you are so concerned about the poor, go and do something. Go and provide for their needs, make sure they have enough to eat, rather than making stupid reports and making us look foolish to the world. First it was about the dog, then the egg. What’s next? Maybe the chicken hatched from the egg. This goes to prove the standard of maturity and intelligence of these people.

The Rakyat’s Choice 01

The Arrest of Tan Hoon Cheng

Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar later claimed that the journalist was arrested because her personal safety was under threat.

Syed Hamid justified Tan’s detention under the ISA with the reason that it was part of the government’s preventive measure “to ensure her safety”.

”We have no intention of holding a reporter as after all she was just taking notes of the comments made by a certain party that led to a public debate.

The Arrest of Teresa Kok

The minister added that Kok’s arrest was linked to her comment over the mosque and the morning prayers which had allegedly “created public disorder and problems”.

Syed Hamid also stressed the government was “not making arrests just for the sake of arrests.”

Worm Compost Harvesting (Vermiculture)

Posted in VERMICULTURE, PICTURE TALK on September 23rd, 2008

I know what you are thinking. “He blogs about socio-politics, he blogs about food and now he blogs about worms!”

Why worms? Who would in their right mind would blog about WORMS? And who would read?

That’s the whole idea about blogging, isn’t it? To share your thoughts, opinion, ideas, beliefs, interests, hobbies or whatever, so that your blog is not only limited to your own niche of readers. It’s all about sharing to a wider group of readers.

To answer the above, why worms? Hmm!!! Why not? Please read more about Worm Compost or Vermiculture here in my earlier articles. Thanks.

To all Worm lovers or Vermiculturists!

About 3 weeks ago, I did a harvest on my worm compost. I’m not into a big scale like others or in any kind of business. It’s just something that of interest to me. So don’t expect much. I’m not an expert on vermiculture but “I did it my way,” and it works well for me.

Worm compost worm compost

This is the compost after more than 3 months. First I spread it all out on a big piece of old plastic shower curtain.

Worms with the compost picking out the worms

As you can see the worms are in there with the compost.

Sorting out the worms from the compost separating the worms from compost

So what I did was separate or to pick out the worms from the compost. It’s not that difficult as the worms will group together if you leave them out in the open. Then from there, you just grab a whole pile of them and leave them on their own and they will all roll into a ball. Look at pics below.

Red wrigglers Worms curl into a ball

You see, the worms will gather into a ball or should I call it a ball of worms!

Putting the worms back into the bin Worms in the compost bin

So, in the meantime, I have a some veg, dried leaves and whatever as long as they are organic on the containers. Then I released the worms back into it. And start the worm compost all over again.

The compost are really good fertilizer. I gave the compost to friends and it was so precious to them that they only used it on their herbal plants and vegetable plants. And  flower plants. My worm compost are 100% organic. I only used vegetable scraps, fruit skins and cuts or dried leaves. No oily food or cooked food. No citrus fruits such as lemon, orange, etc, the citric acid will kill the worms. And spicy stuff such as garlic or chilli. And no MEAT! Fully vegetarian. So I guess they are ovolactovegetarian or vegan worms.

I gave the compost to friends and it is so previous to them that they only used it on their herbal plants and vegetable. I might sound crazy, but that’s the way to go. After all these worms are nature’s friends and they have a part in God’s plan for a better environment. It’s God’s way to cultivate the earth!

Note: Please wear gloves when you are harvesting the compost. I know, I know I should have done that. Sorry!!!

Interesting Comment On The Article “Badawi Resigns, Najib Takes Over.”

Posted in LIFE, AROUND THE BLOG, MALAYSIA, CITIZEN'S COLUMN, NEWS on September 22nd, 2008
I recieved this comment on the article “Badawi Resigns, Najib Takes Over”  from I Spy. Thought I’ll post it here. An interesting theory…

__________________________________________________

Comment from I Spy:

Pak Lah is smart and very sly. He is not going to give up the PM to Najib while under pressure. It is a known fact he does not like Najib and only tolerates him . He chose Najib as a DPM because he has dirt on Najib. Do not spend too much time reading into PaK Lah but watch Khairy\’s wheeling and dealing with Anwar. Khairy is throwing the support behind Anwar and to stay relevant. He will not show his hand but have his people support Anwar. In the mean time as soon as Umno is out of power he will consolidate his power in UMNO by instigating a witch hunt. Najib and the others who plotted against Pak Lah will be surrendered to Anwar with evidence to prosecute them in court. These senior UMNO plotters when convicted and will be bar from political office. He will rebuild UMNO and will have UMNO allied with PR has a strategic partner. MCA/MIC/Gerakan and other BN parties will be left high and dry if by this time they have not gone over to PR.

Khairy knows once he has made UMNO strong and he can bid for power in PR as a strategic partner. This is the only way for Khairy to survive. Do not write off Khairy. Read the Anwar\’s PR statements that the BN MPs do not necessary need to cross over to support the PR government. This way Khairy keeps UMNO intact and mold into a progressive party in the mold of PKR. UMNO will remain a Bumiputra party but the UMNO constitution will be change to bar racial politics and statements by UMNO members. In 2 or 3 years Khairy will made a bid for PM with the blessing of PR.He will prove that UMNO without the racist will be an asset to PR and the people. Read the rest of this entry »
