Badawi Defends Decision To Charge Opposition Leader. (From Malaysiakini) 

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has denied allegations of orchestrating sodomy allegations against Anwar Ibrahim to deflect attention from the government’s problems.

“Why should I try to deflect (attention) from the government’s problems?

“Government problems are huge. This (case) is not going to deflect the government’s problems. I don’t see that,” said Abdullah. 

Simple. Because they have no answers to the problems. You cannot and don’t know how to handle it. So you thought by charging Anwar, people will shift their attention to the issue at hand. Atleast it would buy you some time. But then you forgot they your time is running out. 2010 is just around the corner.

By the way, what is the cause of the ‘”huge” government’s problems? Or rather who causes it?

And of course you don’t see it, not when you are sleeping. Dreams are for those who sleep. Some people have eyes yet they don’t see. They have ears yet they don’t hear.

 At a press conference after chairing the Barisan Nasional management committee meeting in Kuala Lumpur today, Abdullah denied that he had a role in the police probe on Anwar.

“How could I insist that he be charged? If there is no evidence, the police are not stupid to charge, just because so-and-so have said ‘charge’. I’m not one to say charge.

“I did say: If you have something to charge, if you have evidence, (then proceed with the) charge. If not, drop it,” said Abdullah, adding that the matter was up to the police and the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

Ok! If you are not the one who said “charge,” then who said that? You must have known that person! Give us a hint!

And as usual you contradicted what you said again. You said that you did tell the police to charge if there are evidence if not drop the case. The you said the matter was up to the police and Attorney-General’s Chambers! So why in the first place you have to advice the police on the matter if it was up to them? Aren’t you trying to meddle with the investigation? Campur tangan lagi? And you dare denied that you had no role in the police probe on Anwar.

Abdullah also dismissed Anwar’s suggestions that the impending sodomy charge was meant to sabotage the latter’s Permatang Pauh by-election campaign.

The prime minister said he had no role in setting the nomination and polling dates, which were announced by the election commission this morning.

C’mon the whole nation knows that you and Umno are running scare. Knowing that if Anwar wins the by-election, he will soon be the next PM. So you will throw in every thing to make sure that will not happen. Desperate people needs desperate measures.

And again the whole nation knows who will give orders to the EC. Isn’t it a coincidence that on the day the dates were set, Anwar was issue a summon to appear in court the next day for sodomy charge? And isn’t it also a coincidence that on the day the Wan Azizah make way for Anwar to run in the by-election, the police concluded their investigation and passed it on the the AG? What a timing! And now you said you have no role in setting the nomination and polling dates? I sometimes wonder what is your role?

Abdullah added that the public must also not forget Saiful’s right to claim justice.

“You seem to think that Anwar is more important. This is an issue of law. He (Saiful) feels that he needs justice, therefore he lodged a report,” said the premier

Hello. Anwar also needs justice!!! And since when you were so interested in the case? There are hundreds if not thousands of Malaysians who feels they need justice too - so why not talk about them? Why Saiful? Why is he so important?

When pressed if Saiful would be charged for sodomy as well if the alleged sexual encounter was found to be consensual, Abdullah laughed and said that he was not competent to comment on law issues.

“You better read your law. It depends on whether a rape took place, or not. I’m not a lawyer. I don’t want to get involved. We’ll see when the case goes to court,” he said.

Haha!!! Now the world is laughing with you. Or is it at you? What are you competent to comment on? On the DNA that’s too old? Or fuel price hike? Or the MRR2 crack? Or about allegation about Najib involvement in the Altantuya’s murder? That he is innocent? What? What? What? Please keep your comments to yourself, and we will not think you are dumb as a PM.
