Alleged Victim Goes Into HidingÂ
(The Straits Times) - MR SAIFUL Bukhari Azlan, the young man who lodged a police report against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, has gone into hiding, though it was earlier reported that he had checked himself into a hospital.
The most talked about Malaysian, who was an assistant to the Parti Keadilan Rakyat de facto leader, has also come under attack from bloggers, online newspaper Malaysiakini reported yesterday.Mr Saiful, 23, is accused of being part of a conspiracy orchestrated by politicians from the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) government to defame or have Mr Anwar jailed once again. BN leaders have denied any involvement. Mr Saiful alleged that Mr Anwar sodomised him at a condominium in Damansara on Thursday.
Pictures of Mr Saiful with various BN politicians were subsequently distributed at a Parti Keadilan Rakyat press conference on Sunday. Besides posing with three ministers, he had also taken pictures with Mr Najib’s special officer Khairil Anas Yusof.
During a visit to Mr Saiful’s house in Bandar Utama in Petaling Jaya yesterday, Malaysiakini chanced upon someone who claimed to be Mr Saiful’s uncle. According to the man, his nephew had gone into hiding, and there has been no contact since news of the report broke on Saturday evening.
‘But I believe in Saiful,’ said the man who refused to give his name. ‘He is a good kid, and all that he has done, he has done with honesty. I just got back from Perak, and we have not been in touch, but I know why he lodged the report.’
Teary-eyed, the man said that his nephew reported the matter as he wanted to expose Mr Anwar for what he was.
When asked about Mr Saiful’s alleged links to Umno politicians, the uncle brushed it off.
‘We have got no help or connections with Umno. All he wanted to do is to expose the heinous crime,’ he was quoted as saying by Malaysiakini.
