Why Are We Waiting?

Police are awaiting directives from the Attorney General’s office to take further action on a case involving a former minister alleged to have molested a woman in Kuala Lumpur last month.

The alleged incident took place in a five-star hotel near the KLSentral station.

A Bernama report quoted Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Muhammad Sabtu Osman as saying that  police had completed their investigations and the investigation papers on the case had been submitted to the AG’s office.

“We have taken statements from the victim and the former minister as well as a few witnesses. It is now up to the AG’s office to pursue the case,” he told reporters after an anti-drug operation in the heart of Kuala Lumpur city this morning.

On the operation, conducted at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Imbi and Jalan Raja Laut, Muhammad Sabtu said 213 people were arrested for offences, including drug abuse, prostitution and immigration offences.

He said 315 policemen and immigration officers were involved in the operation which began yesterday and ended today.  Malaysiakini

Let me simply put it this way. If the accused molester was Ahmad or Ah Beng or Muthu, will the Police Chief wait to get a directives from the AG’s office to charge him? Even if cases like this need the “ok ” from the AG’s office, it doesn’t need to take so many days. And furthermore, if the investigation has been completed and the fact that it has been submitted to the AG’s office shows that there is a case to pursue. [“We have taken statements from the victim and the former minister as well as a few witnesses. It is now up to the AG’s office to pursue the case,” he told reporters after an anti-drug operation in the heart of Kuala Lumpur city this morning.]  We will see what the AG’s office has to say.

And the same news said that: ‘On the operation, conducted at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Imbi and Jalan Raja Laut, Muhammad Sabtu said 213 people were arrested for offences, including drug abuse, prostitution and immigration offences.’  I bet you that these 213 people arrested for their various offences will be charged in court ASAP and they don’t have to wait for directives from the AG’s office!

So why the waiting? What are we waiting for? Or who are we waiting for to get the ‘ok’ or ‘buang case ini?’
