Tiada Ijazah… Rosmah The Chancellor!

Posted in LIFE, SMILE, PICTURE TALK, AROUND THE BLOG, MALAYSIA, NEWS on May 31st, 2008

Rosmah Mansor - Chancellor of Unisel

Quotes from comments at Malaysia Today:

“In Malaysia we don’t look at degrees and brain power to assume high posts. You need to be the wife of the PM or DPM.”

“Rosmah should be immediately and unconditionally terminated from the position of Chancellor of the university. A hippopotamus belongs in a mud lake, not in academia.”

“Unfortunate in Malaysia, it’s not what you know but who you know that is important. contracts and positions are given to the well connected. that is why incompetent is everywhere. “

“Beliau tidak mempunyai sebarang Ijazah Kedoktoran Falsafah langsung. Saya ingin bertanya sama ada barisan pengurusan tertinggi Unisel akan diganti dengan golongan akademik berwibawa,” katanya ketika berucap di Sidang Dun.”

“It is a big joke for our education system.”

“Perhaps we have found the answers to the degrading of our universities!”

“Mungkin dapat ijazah dari sekolah dandang rambut mak andam dan memberi sumbangan kpd golongan maknyah menjadi perempuan Melayu terakhir. Ceh langsung tak tahu malu dgn peti ais nie yg sanggup menjadi bahan ketawa pada umum.”

The Pathetic Home Minister

Posted in LIFE, PICTURE TALK, AROUND THE BLOG, MALAYSIA, NEWS on May 31st, 2008

Chor Chee Heung - The Deputy Home Minister

Chor Chee Heung Deputy home minister justifies police action at BMC clash:

The few police personnel present were managing traffic and were unable to act due to their numbers. “They only managed to get the district police chief to send more enforcement to that area. By the time the FRU (Federal Reserve Unit) and police officers showed up, the scuffle had already ended.  [quote Chor Chee Heung -  Malaysiakini]

I just can’t believed what I read. So you mean to tell us that the police personnel just watched as the thugs beat up the residents? They were too busy directing the traffic rather than going in to help the residents? So due to their numbers they were unable to help? What! You need numbers before you save lives! So you allowed the thugs to beat them up. Excuse me, the police personnel are supposed to protect the people.

”All they could do was to issue warnings and told the crowd to disperse. In the confusion, residents were beaten up by unidentified thugs and they decided to use more force by using a car to knock police officers over.” [quote Chor Chee Heung - Malaysiakini]

And as usual when everything is over the police arrived. And what did they do? Issued warnings and asked the residents to go home. And what did the residents do? Get into their cars and try to knock the police officers? Serious! And what did the FRU do? They dragged him out of the car and bashed him properly. 20 FRU against one unarmed young man.  That’s what the FRU did. C’mon even if it is true that the driver of the car tried to run over the police officers (as claimed by the police) it does not give you the rights to bash the guy till he bleeds!

Does that justify the actions of the police? I mean 20 FRU police personnel bashing up a defenceless man with batons, boots and shields. Where is the logic? Isn’t that what we call “Police Brutality?” Beaten up by thugs while the police watched is not enough, the FRU came and bashed them up even more.

And to cover up their brutality, the police are trying to put the blame in the four victims. They are now being investigated for attempted murder and roiting! (Malaysiakini) Can you believe that? The FRU personnel are the ones that should be investigated for attempted murder on the car driver.

“The police are professional enough and I am confident that they can investigate properly into this. Don’t just base all your accusations on Malaysiakini.”

“I can also say that Malaysiakini’s report is incorrect. Don’t just hear one side of the story. We have to hear the other side to know exactly what actually happened on May 27,” [quote Chor Chee Heung - Malaysiakini]

Yea right, the police are professional! Professional bullies! Of course you can say that Malaysiakini’s report is incorrect and it’s just one side of the story. So what is the other side of the story? From you? Which is correct? Hello, we heard reports from residents who were there. And photos. And videos. Tell me what are side of the reports you want to hear that is accurate and correct? You just read from the report given to you by the police, and that doesn’t mean it’s correct or true. You should investigate the facts first before you try to justify the police actions.

All I can say is you are pathetic!

Ezam And The Book Of Secrets

A founding member of PKR  and a former political secretary to PKR’s de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, he was also PKR’s Youth chief and had served a two-year jail sentence over the Anwar’s issue.  After a fallout with Anwar Ibrahim and party vice president Azmin Ali, he left the party.

Now he is going back to the party that he has been critical about. It is said that he will be offered a senatorship and also the possibility of challenging for the Umno Youth’s chief.

Others are trying to get out, but he is getting back in. What’s in for him? Will he still continue to fight against corruption and reform judiciary within? Or is it a long term strategy to plant himself in there? A trojan horse! Is he bringing along the 6 boxes of corruption files and what’s in it? Whatever happened to his principles and the struggles he believes in?

Whatever it is, only time will tell.

Rocky’s Unleashed!

Posted in LIFE, PICTURE TALK, MALAYSIA, NEWS on May 25th, 2008

Rocky’s Bru

This week the “Blog” program on TV1 will feature Ahirudin Attan, who blogs as Rocky Bru. He is the sixth blogger to appear on the program. Without doubt we will see him unleash his whip. Go Rocky!!!

An Observation: It seems that TV1 only invites Malay bloggers so far. The five previous bloggers who appeared on the program were A. Kadir Jasin, Raja Petra Kamarudin, Zahrin Yasin, Nuraina A. Samad and Ruhanie Ahmad. And all are malays. But don’t you think it would be fair to also invite bloggers of other races. No offence intended, I believe they are all great bloggers in their own rights but are there no credible bloggers among the other races? Why ain’t they invited to the program?

Bloggers such as Anil Netto, Jeff Ooi, Bernard Khoo (Zorro-unmasked), Tony Pua - just to name a few - should be given the opportunity to also express their views from a different perspective.

A Suggestion: Why not do the program in reverse. Instead of having an interview posing questions to the bloggers, let the bloggers interview an invited guest from the cabinet or minister. That would be interesting! At least some real relevant issues can be addressed.

MR POT - Best Coffee, Best Hangout At Gurney!

Posted in TRAVELLING, FOOD, LIFE, PICTURE TALK, MALAYSIA on May 24th, 2008

Mr Pot At Gurney Drive

This is surely one of the best hang out place for me. I spent plenty of my time here, blogging, enjoying the view and food. Mr Pot Cafe is located along Penang’s famous Gurney Drive. And to be precise, it is right smack in the middle of Gurney Drive, just next to the prestigious Silverton Condo. Great sea-front view overlooking the mainland. In the daytime you get plenty of sunshine and sea breeze. And on a clear night, the moon and the stars hoover above you. What else could you ask for?

Tell you what else! They served the best coffee in town with a very reasonable price, anything from RM2.60 to RM4.20 depending on your choice. Try it, if you are not happy, it will be on me. I usually go for the ‘kopi’ - strong and not too sweet, either hot or iced! Beats Starbucks or Coffee Beans anytime - in taste and value for money.

And if you feel like a having breakfast there are plenty of choices, from French Toast with Kaya to Ham sandwich to the good old Garlic Bread. Or simply have the soft boiled eggs with just plain toast. And if you prefer the heavier local breadfast, go for Fish or Chicken porridge or the famous Penang Nasi lemak. And of course there are plenty more from the menu to choose from.

For lunch or dinner they served local favourites to western delights. Try the Nasi Lemak Rendang Chicken or the Singapore Beehoon. And from some feedbacks from friends, the Laksa is just great too. If you prefer western food - I recommend Linguini Olio Vongole or Cajun Chicken. Prices are very reasonable, ranging from RM7.80 to RM12.80. And you get a good portion of it too.

And how about some snacks for weight-watchers? Curry chicken with rice, Jolly Bee (homemade) chicken burger or Chicken Spaghetti. And that’s for weight-watchers - hehehe!!!

Thirsty? No problem. Plenty of fruit juices and iced-blended drinks with names like - Kiss of the Dragon (fresh dragon fruit with sweet dates), Mocha Banana, Strawberry Fizz (yummy!) and the list goes on.

Mr Tan, the owner is usually there - always with his cheerful smile acknowledging the customers. And he seems to know many of the customers by names. Many expatriates frequent this place too. Mr Tan will come around to ask you whether the wifi connection is good and make sure the fan blowing on you.  Besides Mr Tan, Joanne, Yao and the friendly staff are always there with a big smile, ready to serve you.

Mr Pot At Gurney

Really a great place to hang out and relax. Great view, great coffee, good food and drinks. Great taste. Clean and friendly environment and prices are reasonable (and no service charge, so remember to leave a good tip!) Good wifi connection. Great place to surf. And great team of friendly service staff. It’s all there at Mr Pot Cafe. Everything is just GREAT, lah!!! Everything you want, you got it. Truly Penang! “Ho Liow!”

Yea Right, You Are Not Lying

Posted in LIFE, PICTURE TALK, AROUND THE BLOG, MALAYSIA, NEWS on May 23rd, 2008

Mohd Nazri

“We did not issue an order. I can assure you, we did not order it. I would not lie,” he said.

“We can argue until the cows come home. I have given the true explanation and I am not lying in the matter,” he said.

From Malaysiakini

——————————————–

Yea right! Like you would tell the nation that you were lying! No matter what you said, I doubt many would believe. We are so confused by all these pointing of fingers. Rashid said it’s the cabinet who order not to use the ink. Then the Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar said. ‘it’s only hearsay evidence.’ The PM Abdullah Badawi said the cabinet only suggest, ot a directive. Now Nazri said it was the EC’’s decision to scrap the use of the ink. And that the cabinet has surrender (the decision) to the EC. The EC did not do their work. What or who to believe lah?

Khalid Abdul Samad (PAS-Shah Alam) was right when he said that Nazri was seeking ‘to ridicule the intelligence’ of the MPs in the House. Not only the MPs but the rakyat who are reading this article. Please wake up and smell the coffee! You  can say you are not lying, say whatever you like - just make sure that someone must take the rap! Your explanation or your assurance is of no value. Bring EC or Rashid to task if what you said is true. Simply put it, we don’t trust anything you said anymore!
