Copy Jews And Chinese, Malays Told
PENANG: The Malays should emulate the Jews and the Chinese who are far-sighted in developing a progressive society.
Second Finance Minister Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop said the Jews, for example, would make development plans that would ensure they would excel for another 1,000 years.
“That’s unlike us (the Malays), who only make four- or five-year plans,†he said at a dinner held in conjunction with the Penang Malay Chamber of Commerce’s annual general meeting at a hotel here on Friday night.
He said the Chinese in China also took measures to ensure collective success of their race.
He said that over the last 50 years the standard of living among Malays had improved tremendously.
“The question now is: where we are heading?†he said.
On another matter, Nor Mohamed said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had appointed him as the chairman of the Penang Economic Action Council.  THE STAR

I can’t believe what I read. The Malays were told to ‘copy the Jews and Chinese who are far-sighted in developing a progressive society!’ Jews? In other words, the Muslims were told to copy the JEWS and Chinese to excel and be succesful in their long term’s planning. I thought the headlines should be:â€Copy the Arabs and Chinese, Malays told.†Chinese I can understand - after all they loan us US$800million to build the 2nd Penang Bridge - so that gives a good reason to copy them, hehe!!! But JEWS?
The question is; are the Malays allowed to copy the Jews? The Muslim world resents the Jews. To copy the Jews would be an insults to the Palestinians too and they would have betrayed their support for Palestine. Also Malaysia don’t have a diplomatic relationship with them. Our passport doesn’t allow us to go to Israel. Neither can they enter Malaysia - maybe except for the Chelsea football club manager and coach, which we made an exception. Copy the JEWS? Man! This must be a real reform in the Malays principles.

Charles Darwin’s “Origin of Species” will explain this situation. The human brain is subjected to evolution and the brains of the Chinese and Jews have evolved for at least 6000 years. Tell me what were the “orang asli” doing in Malaya 6000 years ago? They were probably swinging from tree to tree naked! The earliest civilization in this country is but less than 600 years with the Malacca sultanate as its first “organized civilized society”. So, can the Malays “escape” Charles Darwin’s theory to take a short cut and be so “advanced” in just such a short time?
Therefore comparing the Malays with the Chinese or the Jews will definitely be an absurd comparison. What’s more, ask the Malays themselves whether they are as hardworking as the two races they are trying to compare with?
