Every Picture Tells A Story
It was called the “Posters War.” But now it’s more than just posters. There are billboards, (huge billboards for the richer candidates), streamers, stickers, flyers, bantings, etc etc…. they are everywhere. All the lamp-posts, trees, traffic lights, fence, for that matter anything that’s standing upright, you’ll find it there. They erect makeshift billboards in every street junctions. But you will find it most at traffic lights junctions, roundabouts, and road junctions. Everybody is trying to outdo the other. They come out with catchy slogans, catc
h phrases, quotes, statements, etc, etc…. Millions and millions of ringgit are spent on the election campaign. I don’t know how true it is but i was told that BN spent about 105million ringgit for their campaign. Parliamentary candidates are given RM200,000 and State candidates RM100,000 each! Come to think of it the printers are laughing all the way to the bank. Doesn’t matter who wins the election - the printers are the real winners.
They come out of catchy slogans, statements, quotes, catch phrases, statistics, and their achievements. And they also come out with some SILLY and LUDICROUS pictures of themselves. Or should I say, not a suitable or appropriate picture. I think the campaign managers or publicity managers should be replaced. Below are some of it and my perception about it. You may think otherwise, that’s fine.  (Disclaimer: I don’t mean to discredit their campaign or judge them, but just giving my view of what I think the face depicts. This is not to harm the reputation of the candidates.)
The Chinese says, ”Gwa kuan, bo gwa keh” - Look up but not down. This gives the impression that he looks to the rich and powerful but not to the people who are going to vote for him. Gives you that high and mighty look.
Now this one, he is bit to late and too old to be a model. Looks like one of those old chinese karoake singer! (Ko Tai singer)
He is like one of those MLM marketing people who has reached the diamond status. Proud and arrogant, unapproachable and ambitious!
Now he looks like he just got married in an indian temple. He will definitely get the indian’s votes. Maybe the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu sent him here.
Now this one really got my attention - maybe that’s what they want to do. At first I thought it was an advertistment for Valentine’s Day. And it also looks like a gay wedding invitation banner - same-sex marriage, hehe!!! Maybe they are trying to get the votes from the gay community.
