The Lions Roar In Penang!
It was 6.45pm when I left the house. And since it was still early I thought I’ll head to the city and take some photos of the Penang High Court, a request from a friend. After that I headed for the Han Chiang High School, where the DAP Rally will be held. When I reached the Methodist High School, along Jalan Air Hitam, which was just before Han Chiang, the road was all jammed up. And since I know that area, I squeezed into a smaller road, thinking I could get through by the back entrance. And to my surprised, the whole area there was also jammed with traffic. I make my way through the crowds and try to look for a parking space, and so were hundreds of other cars and bikes. I drove around the block twice and finally got to the main road, Jalan Masjid and to my surprised again, cars were parked everywhere up the curbs and along the road. I finally found a tiny space – enough to squeeze my Kelisa in. This is the time you thank God you drive a small car. The MacDonald’s car park was fulled, so was the Maybank. And hundreds of people all walking towards the school.

When I reached the back entrance of the school, I saw a Mercedes Benz pulled in, and guess who was in there. Yes, the star of the evening – Datuk Sri Anwar Ibrahim. And his car just park right in front of me. I quickly took out my 6.0 megapixel camera and took some pictures of him. What a luck! I went there with the intention of getting some photos of him for my blog and God brought him to me, right in front of me! And as he walked towards the main entrance, I followed his entourage, trying to take more pictures. When he reached the entrance, there were like thousands of people outside the hall. They cheered and clapped and everyone tried to shake his hands or just give him a pat on his shoulders. The malays with the PKR and some in the crowd shouted “Refomasi,†the Indians shouted “Makkal Sakthi,†and the Chinese in the crowd shouted “Just change it.†I guess they are supporters from DAP. The crowd were noisy but well behaved. The whole indoor stadium was packed to the brim. There is hardly room to stand. And thousands more braved the rain standing outside the hall, watching from a big screen. You don’t have to pay them to come, or give them a memo. They will pay to come. And they came by the thousands. Most people I asked, estimated that there were atleast 10,000 or more! It was really an awesome sight! And I’m just glad to be part of the crowd. You can feel in the atmosphere that the people were hunger for change. As I was standing among the crowd, I overheard them saying, they are fed up with the corruptions, the rising prices, NEP, education system, etc, etc. You can sense the strong pro-opposition sentiment among the crowd. People came to look for a savior. Their hope and dream of true democracy, justice and equal opportunity. Yes, the people came with the spirit of change. A Movement of Change is in the air!

That silver hair man in blue shirt is Datuk Tan Gim Hwa, former MPPP council, I think.
I heard about the ceramah but didn’t go. People told me it was Koh Tsu Koon vs. Lim Guan Eng ler, ish, wrong info. Thanks for the post.
I was there! It was awesome!! Even the rain can\’t chase away all the crowd. 3 of us got soaking wet outside the stadium but it was really awesome.
I was there ! It was awesome ! I really respect these speakers. They speak up for the nation despite knowing they can be prosecuted under ISA. Look at Gandhi, Martin Luther, Nelson Mandela…they are people who dare to speak up. They fight for changes.
